Matthew 14: 22-23

It isn’t hard to see in Jesus’ disciples’ boat, buffeted by the waves and overwhelmed by the strong headwind, the image of the Church today, threatened from without by all sorts of adverse forces and tempted from within by fear and lack of faith.     Thank you for your interpretations of the story about Peter and Jesus walking on
    water. I think it is notable in this gospel story that the Church needs to take risks The Church, it seems to me, does not take risks of a spiritual nature. The Church as I know it simply dictates. We, the faithful, also need to take spiritual risks as possibly never before in Church history. We have an obligation to develop a well informed conscience through study, spiritual reflection and counsel.
