Remembering Nelson Mandela

Spiritual Quotes from Nelson Mandela

nelson Mandela“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
— Nelson Mandela (Long Walk to Freedom)

“I am not a saint, unless you think of a saint as a sinner who keeps on trying.”
— Nelson Mandela

“There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death.”
— Nelson Mandela (Long Walk to Freedom: Autobiography of Nelson Mandela)

“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”  — Nelson Mandela

“And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
— Nelson Mandela (Long Walk to Freedom)

“Man’s goodness is a flame that can be hidden but never extinguished” – Nelson Mandela

Mandela’s flame can never be extinguished.  He is a man for all ages and we should remember him, honor him and follow in his footsteps…- He exemplified that golden rule of loving our brothers and sisters as we love ourselves – he followed Jesus’ example of nonviolent resistence to injustice and he came a long way towards instilling peace, justice and equality upon the people of South Africa.
